What is a Paladin? Derived from the Latin word "palatine" as in "palatine guards,"– an elite group of soldiers in early Rome - a Paladin is a champion, supporter and defender of a cause. You might recall the central character in the old western TV series, Have Gun, Will Travel, was also called Paladin. His calling card featured a picture of a paladin (the white knight in chess) and the theme song referred to him as "a knight without armor."

A Paladin lives and leads by example, and - like a chess master - controls the board through superior position. Courtesy, courage, honor and virtue are all characteristics of a Paladin.
